Ballymore Split Level/ Full Architectural Service
Ballymore House
Set on a steeply sloped site with a complex planning history, this project required an innovative design approach to secure approval. RSDS Architects developed a split-level home that appears as a modest single-storey dwelling from the front yet opens into a striking two-storey volume at the rear, following the land’s natural contours.
Inspired by traditional Irish architecture, the design features strong gable walls, simple forms, and a restrained material palette. A standout element is the cantilevered corner window in the master bedroom, framing panoramic views of the Wicklow Mountains and introducing a contemporary touch to the otherwise vernacular-inspired home.
By resolving significant site challenges and blending tradition with modernity, RSDS Architects have crafted a home that is both contextually sensitive and forward-thinking—a perfect example of contemporary rural living.
