Remote Architectural Design

Your dream home, designed by RSDS Architects — all from the comfort of your home.
Our Remote Design Service allows clients anywhere in Ireland — or further afield — to collaborate directly with RSDS Architects from the comfort of their own home. Using video calls, shared digital presentations, and online design tools, we create bespoke, site-specific homes that reflect your lifestyle, your site, and your vision. You’ll enjoy the same creativity, technical expertise, and attention to detail that define every RSDS project — just delivered remotely, with all the flexibility that modern design collaboration allows.
How it works (5 simple steps)
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a detailed discussion to understand your project’s requirements, preferences, and objectives. This can be conducted via phone, email, or video conferencing.
2. Information Gathering
You’ll provide us with essential information, including site measurements, OSI maps, photographs, and any existing plans or sketches.
3. Design Development
Our team will create a bespoke design tailored to your specifications, considering functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
4. Review and Feedback
We present the design to you for review, welcoming your feedback to refine and perfect the proposal.
5. Final Deliverables
Upon approval, we provide you with detailed architectural drawings and documentation, ready for local Technician or Engineer for submission to local authorities.

REMOTE DESIGN - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I get started?
It’s really simple. Just get in touch with us through the website to book an initial online chat. We’ll talk through your ideas, look at your site location, and get a feel for what you want to achieve. Once we have your brief, some site photos, and any available drawings or maps, we can start shaping your new home design — all from our studio.
Can RSDS Architects design my home without visiting the site?
Yes, absolutely. With today’s technology, we can understand your site using mapping tools, surveys, photos, and orientation data. We’ll analyse sunlight, topography, and views just as we would in person, and then design a home that responds beautifully to its setting. Every design we create — remote or local — follows the same high standard of care and creativity.
How will we communicate during the process?
Everything happens online. We’ll meet over video calls, share design updates by email, and collaborate through digital presentations so you can see your ideas come to life step by step. Many of our clients actually prefer this setup — it’s efficient, flexible, and personal.
Who handles the planning application and construction?
Once your design package is complete, you can pass it on to a local technician or engineer who will bring it through the planning and construction stages. However, if you’d prefer us to **submit the planning application** on your behalf, that can easily be arranged as an additional service.
What will I receive at the end of the process?
You’ll receive a **full set of planning-ready drawings**, including:
- Floor plans, elevations, and sections
- A detailed site layout plan and site location map
- External 3D renders of your project
These documents are ready to be submitted directly to your local planning authority by your chosen technician or engineer — or by RSDS Architects if you opt for us to manage the submission.
What types of projects does this suit best?
Our remote design service is ideal for anyone who wants an RSDS-designed home but plans to manage the later stages locally. It works brilliantly for one-off houses, extensions, and rural builds — especially if you’re based further afield but still want that RSDS touch.
What are the costs involved?
For extensions or renovation projects, the fee is determined by the internal area of the new extension together with the floor area of any existing spaces being altered or redesigned. The final fee will be confirmed following an initial discussion and will reflect the scale and complexity of your brief.
